How to tell the polarities of China magnet apart?

Without certain device, it is hard to differentiate the N pole and S pole of magnet. For China manufacturers, gauss meter or magnetic pole identifier could be used to identify the polarities by sliding on the surface of the magnet. Thus, the polarity of magnet can be easily found.

However, what if the magnet is not magnetized? Here are two solutions.
Firstly, we could judge by the shape. For most disc magnets, the larger side would be the surface of the magnetic pole. We could tell the magnetized side by naked eye. What if magnet is a cube whose lengths are all the same? In this case, a China magnetized magnet marked N and S pole would come into play. As we know, opposite poles attract each other. We could use it to attract the cube magnet. If one side of the cube magnet is attracted, this side and its opposite side would be the surfaces of the magnetic pole.

Some products have specific requirement for the magnetization direction. Or the product would be malfunction. For customized China magnets, the manufacturer must be clear about its magnetization direction.

Can the Surface of Neodymium Magnets Carve Letters?

Hello, I would like to ask you whether you can do our company logo on the surface of powerful neodymium magnets. I have met several such customers, but there was no deal in the end. Most customers mainly want to carve logo and sculpture N or S, can it be done?

We all know that magnets are more fragile. It has a feature that the stronger the magnetism, the more brittle, so the use of knife engraving is not feasible. Generally the China magnet manufacturers are usually used in the way of radium engraving letters or patterns. Radium carving has a much better effect than we carve out with sharp objects and it will not be affected by surface hardness.

The difficulty is that magnets must be radium carved one by one, which is time-consuming and expensive, so there are few magnet manufacturers that can do magnet radium carving.

All in all, we can know that strong magnetism can be engraved LOGO and NS on the surface, but more troublesome, and will increase the cost of magnets.

August 14, 2018 John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 signed into law by the President of the United States, Trump. The new legislation prohibits the U.S. Department of Defense from acquiring Rare Earth Magnets from China. It was said that further risk to the nation’s strategic supply chain’s dependency on China has been reduced by the new law, which prohibits the Department of Defense’s purchase of China magnets used in an array of military applications, from aviation and weapons systems, to supercomputers and satellites.

Rare earth magnets represent a technology of critical importance to the American military. "This is a turning-point in the re-establishment of an independent US rare earth industry," said Jim McKenzie, President and CEO of Ucore. "It is also an important inflection point for rare earth investors".

In the past, some American experts often experts criticized the United States for over-reliance on rare earth of China. It seems that the United States is a barren country of rare earth resources. However, according to an article recently published by Bloomberg Businessweek, as the second largest rare earth reserve country in the world, the United States is second only to China. The US Geological Survey also believed that the deposits of American Rare Earth Co., Ltd. in Idaho, Colorado, and Montana will be one of the five proven large-reserve deposits of rare earth which are outside China or out of control of China.
